Job Summary

Basic Function:

The Grants Specialist will work in line with the Grants and Contracts Manager to support the institute and staff in the securing and management of corporate and government grants.  Will also assist in the identification and writing of grant proposals that support and reflect institutional priorities, researching and disseminating grant opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  1. Contribute to the management of the full award cycle for grants and contracts, including solicitation, review, execution, implementation management, monitoring, communication with recipients, and closeout.
  2. Responsible for day-to-day monitoring of grant and contract distribution and activities under the projects.
  3. Participate in the development of grant and contract Scopes of Work together with funder representatives.
  4. Ensure full compliance with funder policies, best practices, and procedures relating to contracts and grant development, awards, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and grant and contract close-out.
  5. Assist in the development  of grant and contract agreements , development of responses to sub-award documents such as RFPs/RFAs, , and evaluation and selection process.
  6. Attend to the external auditors’ requests in respect of Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) with our funding partners and Letters Of agreement with our implementing partners.
  7. Prepare Budget and budget narratives for submissions for Grant proposals.
  8. Post-award responsibilities which include a review of all grants and contract sub-awards/ subcontracts including the scope of work, budget, and modifications, , and extensions.
  1. Maintain the documentation and reporting in accordance with funder guidelines.
  2. Regularly review to identify issues and risks related to project activity implementation and document for appropriate action.
  3. Conduct pre-award reviews of possible grantee organizations, in addition to periodic monitoring reviews during implementation and at close-out.
  4. Builds the capacity of the assistant(s).
  5. Perform Other duties as assigned.

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting, Economics, Finance, and Banking.
  • Computer literacy-strong Microsoft Excel and MS Word skills. Microsoft Access skills will be an advantage and other Financial software packages
  • Possession of a postgraduate degree such as MBA (Finance & Management) or professional certification such as ACA or ACCA will be an added advantage.

Experience, skills, and competencies

  • At least seven (7) years of working experience, including not less than four years of Grants and Contracts Management in a Non-Governmental organization.

The Manager of Health Care Waste Management will be responsible for overseeing the safe and environmentally sound disposal of medical and healthcare waste generated within healthcare facilities. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that healthcare waste, which can include hazardous materials, sharps, infectious waste, pharmaceuticals, and other potentially harmful substances, is managed in compliance with local regulations, international standards, and best practices to protect both public health and the environment.

The specific job description includes the following responsibilities:

  1. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all healthcare waste management activities adhere to local, state, and national regulations regarding waste disposal, including proper handling, storage, transportation, and disposal methods.
  2. Policy Development: Develop and implement comprehensive healthcare waste management policies and procedures that reflect best practices and comply with legal requirements. These policies should cover waste segregation, handling, storage, transportation, and final disposal methods.
  3. Training and Education: Provide training and education to healthcare staff on proper waste segregation, handling, and disposal techniques to minimize risks and ensure safety.

  6. Disposal Methods: Evaluate and select appropriate disposal methods for different types of healthcare waste, such as incineration, autoclaving, chemical treatment, or landfill disposal, depending on the nature of the waste and regulations.
  7. Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identify potential risks associated with healthcare waste management processes and implement measures to mitigate those risks, protecting both healthcare workers and the environment.
  8. Equipment and Infrastructure: Ensure that healthcare facilities have the necessary equipment, containers, and infrastructure to safely store and manage healthcare waste before disposal.
  9. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records and documentation related to waste generation, handling, transportation, and disposal for regulatory compliance and reporting purposes.

Education and Experience/qualifications

  1. Degree in Environmental or Medical Sciences or any other science course with a master’s degree in any of these courses (Public Health, Environmental/Medical Sciences, or any other relevant courses) and at least five (5) years of progressive experience in HCWM. 
  2. Previous experience in the preparation of HCWM technical instruments recognized by the World Bank, strong country knowledge and of World Bank safeguard policies, experience in hazardous/HCWM activities is an advantage.    
  3. At least five years’ experience in developing training manuals or other training documents for programs/projects funded by multilateral agencies specifically on hazardous/HCWM, working experience in Nigeria or developing country under similar conditions.

Good technical and organizational background in performing hazardous/HCWM for programs/projects, and ability to cooperate and interact with stakeholders, including facilitating meetings and workshops.

Job Description

The Project Director will provide overall program oversight and will be the focal point for engagement with the funders and representation at the National level. He/she will lead the Management Team and oversee the provision of short-term technical assistance to NMEP and SMEPs and other key stakeholders. He/She will track and ensure the achievement of targets and compliance with funder’s requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and maintain oversight of program activities in the State including harmonization of malaria control efforts at the state level.
  • Be the liaison between the project, SMEP, NMEP, and the donor.
  • Develop and implement work plans, ensuring integration of plans and in alignment with best technical strategies.
  • Perform oversight with the project team to ensure successful data-driven routine implementation and campaign.
  • Ensure all relevant authorities and stakeholders are included in the planning and implementation of the project as appropriate.
  • Submit weekly, monthly, quarterly, and end-of-project updates and reports as required.
  • Develop and implement work plans, ensuring that plans are integrated into an overall consolidated work plan and projected expenditures.

Job Description

Under the supervision of the Project Director Malaria Impact Project, the Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM) Manager will be responsible for overseeing the management and resolution of grievances received from community members, beneficiaries, and other stakeholders related to the Malaria IMPACT project in Lagos, Nigeria. He/She will be responsible for ensuring that all grievances are handled in a timely, fair, and effective manner and that feedback is provided to the relevant stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the grievance redress mechanism of the IMPACT Malaria program in Lagos state.
  • Establish/adopt/adapt a grievance mechanism, process, or procedure to receive concerns and complaints and allows stakeholders and beneficiaries to denounce the shortcomings in the program implementation.
  • Prompt analysis/review of concerns/complaints and dissemination/utilization of findings to generate strong support and stakeholder/beneficiary engagement.
  • Follow up concerns/complaints until adequately resolved/redressed.
  • Work in close collaboration with the NMEP, SMEP, other stakeholders, and beneficiaries of the IMPACT Malaria program to address all reported concerns/complaints.

State Clinical Mentor

Introduction
The National AIDS, Sexually Transmitted Infections Control and Hepatitis Programme (NASCP) is a Department of Public Health division in the Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH). Its mandate is to coordinate the formulation and effective implementation of the Nigerian government policies, guidelines, and standard operating procedures to prevent new HIV infections and improve the existing treatment, care, and support for those already infected and affected by the virus. In collaboration with the USG, NASCP is implementing the first phase of National Clinical Mentoring in the HIV program in 19 Nigerian States for improved HIV service delivery.

The Institute of Human Virology, Nigeria (IHVN), in collaboration with SASCP, is seeking to recruit qualified persons in the FCT to fill the following critical positions necessary for program implementation, as indicated below.

Description and objectives:

Under the supervision of the Director of Public Health, the State clinical mentor will provide mentorship to healthcare workers in assigned facilities. S/He is expected to build the capacity of frontline Healthcare workers to provide quality HIV clinical services as part of a comprehensive package of care in both public and private facilities and communities. The candidate must be domiciled in the State and be conversant with the terrain.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide on-site clinical training to healthcare workers on HIV treatment according to the national guidelines, including adult and pediatric ART and treating tuberculosis and other opportunistic diseases.
  • Provide training through clinical consultation, assisting local healthcare workers in identifying key bottlenecks affecting patients’ access to antiretroviral therapy (ART) and helping them with direct patient care as needed.
  • Provide continuous medical education (CME), which may include didactic training sessions for health professionals, as needed. All training will be in accordance with the national guidelines.
  •  Provide health worker capacity-building sessions using various methodologies (including project ECHO and low bandwidth video conferencing).
  • Assist, as requested, with facilitating sessions on the weekly ECHO videoconferencing sessions with health workers from various sites in the states.
  • Develop standard operating procedures for HIV clinical care at the health facility in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders. This may include troubleshooting problems with the patient flow, tracking defaulters, or clarifying referral pathways by developing appropriate algorithms.
  • Submit a monthly report on training and technical assistance activities, as well as findings and recommendations for strengthening services in the health facility and compliance with the national treatment guidelines.
  • Perform other duties related to clinical mentoring as assigned.
